What's new
RentLens is in beta (v0.8.0). Here's what's shipped.
v0.8.0 — A cleaner, faster-feeling RentLens
September 2026- ImprovedA refreshed look across the whole site — a new typeface and tidier typography, with prices and estimates now shown in aligned, easy-to-scan figures.
- ImprovedInstant results feel snappier: the rent check and the calculators now show a loading placeholder while they work, instead of a blank pause.
- ImprovedClearer “nothing here yet” messages when a property search turns up no reviews.
- FixedAccessibility improvements — sliders and form controls are now properly labelled for screen readers, and some low-contrast text was darkened.
v0.4.0 — More kinds of rental problems
September 2026- NewLandlord notices — got an N4, N5, N12 or N13? RentLens helps you understand what the notice is, confirms which one you actually received, and points you to the official process and your options. It never decides for you whether you have to move.
- NewEnding your tenancy — planning to leave? Get source-backed guidance on notice, breaking a lease early, assignment and subletting, with a one-click jump to the Move vs Stay calculator to weigh the cost.
- NewLease problems — questions about extra fees, guests, pets, repairs or other lease terms now get real guidance that separates what your lease says from what the official sources say. Still informational, not legal advice.
- ImprovedYour recommended steps now check off instantly and can be unchecked to undo a mistake.
- ImprovedNew plain-language guides on landlord notices, ending a lease early, guest charges, pet clauses, repairs and fees — to help you get oriented before you dig in.
v0.3.0 — Smarter Rental Issues
August 2026- NewUploaded documents (like a rent-increase notice) are now read automatically — RentLens pulls out the key details and flags anything that doesn’t match what you told it, so nothing is changed without your confirmation.
- NewYour next best action and recommended steps are now a checklist you can track and mark done as you go.
- ImprovedFill in missing details with quick guided prompts, and re-run the analysis as new information comes in. Resolved issues stay resolved unless you explicitly reopen them.
- ImprovedClearer, more careful guidance — including the current-year Ontario rent increase guideline and the different ways an above-guideline increase can apply. Still informational, not legal advice.
- FixedRefreshed official Ontario source information and resource links.
v0.2.0 — Rental Issues
August 2026- NewProblems & Issues — report a rental problem (a rent increase, a notice, a repair, a lease question) from any property.
- NewSource-backed guidance: a plain-language assessment, your next best action, important dates, and official Ontario resources. Informational, not legal advice.
- NewAsk focused questions about an issue, upload documents, track a timeline, then mark it resolved and rate how helpful it was.
