How property reviews work
A property’s reputation on RentLens is built from verified tenant experiences — not anonymous crowdsourcing. Ratings are aggregated so you can see what a place is really like to live in, while every reviewer stays anonymous.
What property reputation shows
Where enough verified reviews exist, a unit (and sometimes the wider building) gets a reputation across:
- Overall experience
- Maintenance
- Communication
- Property condition
- Noise levels
- Value for money
- Would rent here again
A rating is shown only once a unit has at least three verified reviews, so one loud voice can’t define a place — and a confidence indicator reflects how much evidence is behind it.
Who can leave a review
Reviews come only from people who can show they actually rented the place — that’s the whole point. You can review when:
- You have an account and have added the rental as a property.
- The tenancy is verified — the simplest way is attaching your lease.
- The tenancy has ended (you’ve moved out).
- You lived there at least ~60 days.
- You’re within ~90 days of moving out.
One review per tenancy. This keeps reputation grounded in real, verifiable stays instead of anonymous drop-ins.
Your privacy
Your ratings contribute anonymously to the property’s reputation — we never show your identity, exact dates, or which review is yours. You choose whether your written comment is published at all, and any published comment is reviewed before it appears. You can edit it briefly after submitting.
Why you can trust it
Every rating comes from a verified renter, weighted by how trustworthy the evidence is and cross-checked against official CMHC market data. There are no anonymous, drop-in submissions that can skew an average, and outliers are flagged and excluded — so no single number can distort what you see.
